The Dallas Cowboys pulled Pro Bowl guard Brian Waters out of retirement to bring veteran stability to an offensive line in need of help.

After sitting out all of last season, Waters has been eased into the lineup since signing with the team Sept. 3. He played in 18 snaps at right guard in Week 2 and 31 in Sunday's win over the St. Louis Rams. Splitting time now with Mackenzy Bernadeau, Waters hopes to start and play the entire way this weekend against the San Diego Chargers.

"That's the goal, to try to make it through the whole game," Waters said Wednesday, per The Dallas Morning News. "We'll see how it goes. Mack will be ready to go. I think we're all confident he'll be ready to go if anything happens."

Hopefully he was worth the hassle.

He appears to have been at least as good as Bernadeau if not better in his limited time, so in the end it's worth it regardless just to ensure we're a deeper team.
