Let's take another trip to the wonderful land of the hypothetical. On this vacation from reality, our tour guide happens to be Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. After witnessing Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson obliterate his team with an historic 329-yard performance, Jones was asked Tuesday on his weekly radio program whether he thought former great Deion Sanders could have shut down Megatron. "Yes, I do," Jones said on KRLD-FM. "Deion had such catch-up speed, and he had real good centerfield ability, and I mean that in baseball term but in football sense. He could really play the ball and he had such the ability to get in position to play the ball." Source: NFL.com
Jerry Jones is on that cheap Gin again. While I do agree Sanders would slow him down, I highly doubt he would just down right stop him. Sanders IMO was the greatest CB to ever play, but Megatron is just a freak of nature. In a hypothetical world it would be a REALLY fun match up to watch.
Agreed. Another matchup that would be fun to see is Ronnie Lott vs Megatron. Lott is one of my favorite players all time and one of the NFL's hardest hitters ever. He might have made Megatron even better just trying not to get hit lol.
he didn't say he'd lock megatron. he just said he'd get some and megatron would get some. basically saying it would be a great battle, honestly.
With the Bears and Lions playing eachother twice a year, there have been games where Charles Tillman has indeed shut down Megatron. So I wouldn't laugh too much at what Jerry Jones is saying about Deion Sanders stopping Megatron.
Shutting someone down is also a function of how well the QB is playing/throwing on that particular day. One could say that the majority of CB's playing against Larry Fitzgerald shut him down all last year when so many poorly thrown balls were chucked they even had Fitz looking to the stars shaking his head. Just sayin'. That said, if Stafford was on, Megatron and Sanders would both get theirs. Megatron can create separation, but Sanders was one of the best at closing that distance in a flash.
depends on which era they would hypothetically play. Deion was never a tackler and Megatron has the height advantage. Now if you want to have a matchup with the old schoolers I would have to say the Steve Atwater from Denver back in the 80's. Meg would catch the first one but after being nailed by Atwater he would have alligator arms or at least think real hard about catching more passes. http://youtu.be/90HMXA5I2Tk against a 260 pound beast.
While I agree. No way on God's green earth could Megatron get separation from Sanders. It has never happened and wouldn't in this instance either. That being said, what an all time great match up this would be.
Calvin doesn't need "separation." Separation is overrated. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtzJnvwR0Z8]Calvin "Megatron" Johnson-15 best catches from college and pros part 1 - YouTube[/ame]
Sanders has shut down Rice but got owned by Irvin and Herman Moore. He's also got own my Rice and shut Irvin down. He could shut Megatron down, but he could get destroyed just the same Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
