Cowboys QB Tony Romo Feels Team Needs To Run More

Discussion in 'Dallas Cowboys' started by BigBlueBruiser, Sep 23, 2010.

  1. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo doesn't want to throw the ball 50 times per game. He recognizes the value of a good running game. But it's tough to be balanced when the running game is wretched. That's a fair term to use for a Cowboys rushing attack that ranks 28th in the NFL with 69.5 yards per game. "It's difficult because we need to get more out of what we're trying to do," Romo said. "I'm not sure exactly the statistics but ... when you run the ball and run successfully, it makes everything a lot easier. Everything. Whether it's your red-zone offense or whether it's staying on the field or minimizing mistakes or minimizing what the defense can do defensively. "But if you're not getting the production out of it, you're also banging your head against the wall to just keep doing it. Once again, it's not black and white, it's something we just have to keep grinding at and figure out a way to get better, whether it's coming up with stuff, doing things better or figuring out a way. We have to do it." The Cowboys' three tailbacks -- Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice -- have combined for 132 yards on 40 carries in two games.

We gashed Washington at almost 5 yards a clip. The Bears shut us down.

We are not failing to run the ball effectivly. You are failing to properly run the ball.

We're vertical passing team. Always have been as long as Romo has been the QB. You cant throw deep when the Safety's arent gonna play run.

Elemantary crap. "High To Harper" needs to unheck himself

the game planning and play calling is often very perplexing in dallas. obviously, the cowboys need to run more and they need to (and should be) running more effectively. if they are not working on it as we speak, then wade and garrett are just signing their own pink slips because that thing isn't going to work without a running game.

hey Tony im pretty sure everyone knows a good running game can help the passing game. As it looks right now with the rushing stats so far this season for all 3 of your running backs. looks like passing is the only option. Looks like your gonna have to step up your game or really work your running backs and have them get better. cause the combined rushing numbers are not good at all

I think they just haven't stayed with it enough. They gave up on it way to early. They have good enough running backs. I hate Dallas myself but they had 26 yards on Chicago in 1st 5 runs, then basically had some shutdowns and gave up on it!! Just my oppinion!

Not to take anything away from what the Bears did.. But you are right. I believe the game would have played out differently if we would have stuck with the run. But, it is what it is... And you guys took it too us... :(

I do believe he was making a joke because the Eagles historically do not run under Andy Reid.
