Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray was benched after fumbling the ball in the first quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Bengals.

Murray recovered his own fumble during a two-yard run in the second series of the night. He returned in the second half with the reserves and caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Orton in the third quarter. He finished with 51 yards on 12 carries and two catches for 14 yards and a touchdown.

Murray declined to speak after the game, according to ESPN.

"We took DeMarco out in the first half because he put the ball on the ground," head coach Jason Garrett said. "So we gave Phillip Tanner a chance to play with the (first team) in the first half then talked to DeMarco at halftime. We gave him a chance to play in the second half and I thought he did a good job of bouncing back."

It seemed to light a fire under his butt when he came back in.

Totally agree, Omen. I think this is one thing that has been missing from this team for a long time, IMO.
