Backup running back Phillip Tanner broke a bone in his right hand in special teams practice on Friday and is going back to Dallas for surgery. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Tanner could be back in action in 1-2 weeks. “We’ll see how the surgery goes and just see where he is,†Garrett said. “Obviously, it’s difficult for a running back when you break your hand, but we can set something up where he wears a glove and we can stabilize it, but that’s getting ahead of ourselves a little bit.†Receiver Saalim Hakim also has a hand injury. Garrett said he dislocated a finger in practice Friday and will probably be out a week. "The challenge for those guys is they catch the ball, they carry the ball, so a lot of the hand injuries really become an issue for them," Garrett said. "We’ll see how he is. We dont expect him to be back in the real near future, at least for the next week or so." Source: Star-Telegram
Tanner seems the worst of the two and he's out 1-2 weeks. Hand injuries to skill receivers are never good though.
