Cowboys Release Five-Time Pro Bowl C Andre Gurode

Discussion in 'Dallas Cowboys' started by BigBlueBruiser, Aug 29, 2011.

  1. Andre Gurode is a Cowboy no more. Unable to reach an agreement on a re-worked contract over the last two days, the Dallas Cowboys decided to part ways with the five-time Pro Bowl center, according to a source, completing an overhaul of the offensive line that started after the lockout ended when they cut right guard Leonard Davis and right tackle Marc Colombo. Gurode, a second-round pick in 2002, had been the longest-tenured member of the team. He was scheduled to make $5.5 million in 2011 and was signed through 2012. Gurode, 32, had a slow start to training camp because of a knee surgery in June, which allowed Costa to get the first-team snaps for the first two-plus weeks of training camp.

  2. I could see him in Miami reuniting with Tony Sparano........

The dolphins is hesitant to sign Shaun O'Hara and Andre could be an upgrade on their O-Line.

Don't know how the young guys are looking as I haven't been paying attention, but I'm okay with the Cowboys releasing one of their veteran Pro Bowlers on the offensive line.

I'm sad and concerned more than anything. But its not his problem if we end up kicking ourselves in the ass, so I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

This why I'm all for players holding out to get their money. If a team wants you to take less money and you can't agree to terms you're out of job. I hope he goes to a division rival and his replacement sucks butt.

    This scares me..

But I do wish him well. He was a good lineman for us for a long time.

Center is the one place we don't need help. We have a more than capable player on the bench but the coaching staff has a woody for the rookie Kelce.

    He won't be an Eagle.

He may or may not be an Eagle.. But he also played guard before he played center. just sayin..

He'll find a gig pretty quick. There are quite a few teams out there that could use a center.

If he did played Guard then maybe Eagles would find some interest in him

  16. JJ said he was in the best shape..and is a 100 percent healthy..this crap was all about the dough...

  17. Chicago could also use him to replace Olin........

    Inclulbus WE ARE! .. Marshall!

Don't understand why we didn't take something cheap for him, knowing someone needs/wants him. Sucks, but out with the old, in with the new.

Could it be that the release of Gurode signifies that a new voice is being heard at Valley Ranch? A voice other than Jerry Jones?
