Jason Witten has moved into second place on the all-time list for NFL receptions by a tight end with a catch late in the second quarter of the Dallas Cowboys’ game in Kansas City Sunday. Witten passed Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe with a catch from quarterback Tony Romo that actually lost two yards. It was the 816th of his 11-year career, all with the Cowboys. Sharpe, who played 14 seasons with the Broncos and Ravens, caught 815 and was inducted into Canton in 2011. On the list of tight-end receptions, the 31-year-old Witten now only trails Tony Gonzalez, who entered Sunday’s play with 1,245 catches, second all-time overall catches behind Jerry Rice.
