The idea is always at the surface, has been since the story of an NFL star dying in an Afghanistan firefight captured America's attention, and strikes especially hard on this holiday weekend 10 years after the September 11 attacks. You remember Pat Tillman, the NFL star who sacrificed a dream career and millions of dollars for the front line of the fight against terrorism, driven by the kind of values the rest of us admire but can't always match. He died for it, killed by friendly fire and then disrespected by a government cover-up, so how could we not want to honor him as best we possibly can? Broadcaster and former NFL receiver Cris Collinsworth is leading the push to induct Tillman into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Im sorry but he is not a HOF player, so he shouldnt be a HOFer However, I see nothing wrong with putting a Tillman exhibit into the HOF, seperate from the HOFers busts. In fact I think that would be more of an honor
There should definitely be something for Tillman in the hall. Idk about an actual bust but he deserves some kind of recognition.
this would be stupid. he doesnt belong in the pro football hall of fame. giving up an athletic career and life long dream to serve your country is nothing short of heroic but tillman belongs in an american hall of fame, not a pro football one. he belongs in the pro football HOF like stalone belongs in the boxing HOF....just idiotic
Maybe in an exhibit honoring football players who have died in war. Maybe throw Sean Taylor in the same exhibit, even though Sean Taylor died protecting his wife and kid from a robber, which I consider a personal war.
Maybe an exhibit for those players who had a tough time staying out of trouble during their time in the NFL...
