The Chicago Cubs acquired reliever Kevin Gregg in a trade with the Florida Marlins on Thursday, a move that appears to end Kerry Wood's career with the team. Gregg was acquired for minor league pitcher Jose Ceda.
Bothered by a sore left knee, Gregg finished 7-8 with a 3.41 ERA and 29 save. His nine blown saves tied for most in the majors.

Be interesting to see where the Cubs put him. I think he makes for a pretty good set up man.

    Should have signed Woody.

I didn't think that anyone blew more saves than Wood, but look at the brains on the Cubs front office, 'Why not release a guy who cannot close games for another guy that is even worse at closing games?' Gotta love their gaull.

Horrible trade for the Cubs. They give up a top prospect for a guy whose best pitch is an above average fastball that he often has trouble locating. Marmol should do fine as the closer, but they're going to lose a few more games in the 8th inning with Gregg in the setup role.

Not a big fan of this trade. Everything I've heard about Ceda would seem to indicate we could have gotten better value for him.

I don't understand that trade. As far as I look at it from the Cubs point of view...
