The Cubs have re-signed free-agent pitcher Ryan Dempster to a four-year contract, the team announced today. Sources say the deal is worth $52 million. Dempster, a 17-game winner and Game 1 playoff starter last season, has been the Cubs top offseason priority.

$13 mil a year for a pitcher with a career era of 4.55?

Yet, a guy like Buehrle is making $14 mil a year with a career era of 3.80.
