It is a well known fact that Andy Reid and twinky Vermeil are good friends. The two former Eagles coaches have been known confide in one another, and it wouldn't be a stretch to consider Vermeil as a mentor of sorts for Reid. So should it come as a big surprise that the Chiefs, a team Vermeil coached from 2001-2005, are close to naming Reid their next coach? A source close to the situation confirmed that Vermeil has in fact been in touch with the Chiefs about Reid as recently as Tuesday.
