The Cowboys added another quarterback to their roster Wednesday, signing Brandon Weeden to a two-year contract, multiple sources confirmed. Weeden, who also talked with Baltimore and Cincinnati last week, will make $570,000 in 2014 and $660,000 in 2015. Cleveland, the team that released him earlier this month, still owes Weeden $2.1 million in guaranteed money. Sourc: SportsDayDFW
With the possibility of Orton retiring, this is a good deal. Weeden never stood a chance in Cleveland. Maybe here he can be a productive backup.
I think what Orton was trying to do was trying to get a new deal for himself. This was before the Cowboys signed Weeden. Orton thought he had leverage. Now, he doesn't.
Why would a guy in the twilight of his career getting 4 million as a second string QB want to try and get a new deal for himself, anyway. Thats a surefire way to get shown the door.
You should talk. The Niners spent a 6th round pick on Blaine Gabbert. The Cowboys spent what amounts to lunch money on Brandon Weeden. You tell me who did the better deal. And, don't forget. The Niners also have Jonathan (I Need A Hug) Martin. I'm going to have such a good time this year. You'd better get ready.
