Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Josh Brent failed a second drug test and was sent back to jail on Thursday, according to the Dallas County District Attorney's office. Despite Brent's return to jail, the Cowboys have no immediate plans to part ways with him, league sources told ESPN's Ed Werder.

A Dallas County judge held Brent's bond "insufficient," the DA said. The DA had filed a motion on Tuesday asking a judge to revoke Brent's bond because it was revealed he failed a drug test taken on June 19.

Brent was out on bail after being charged with intoxication manslaughter resulting in the death last year of best friend and teammate, Jerry Brown.

This is all about money. If the Cowboys cut him before the league rules on his case, the Cowboys can't recoup any money. At least, this is what I've heard.

Or it's about supporting a guy who's having a real tough time swallowing that he's responsible for his best friend's death. It's about supporting him as was requested by the dude's mother.

    I disagree, Rich.

Josh has failed two drug tests, tampered with an ankle monitor, and is now in jail. The "Josh needs our help" time is over. How can you help someone who doesn't want to, or can't, help themselves?

So you genuinely believe that the Dallas Cowboys give a crap about $700k?

Chastise Heat fans in one thread for having no class, over some mild at worst smack talk...then endorse ending one of the classiest things the team you support is involved in, and over a matter of relative pennies, in the next. Good ole Ragman logic.

i was wondering if the financial cost of 'when' the cowboys were to release brent might have something to do with why they still have him on the roster. as far as keeping him on the roster in a sign of 'support' for him, i guess if they feel that's the best way to support him, that's their right.

personally for me, the guy seems like a lost cause and i wouldn't be real motivated to help him. the guy had a history of driving under the influence even before he killed his buddy and continues to not change his ways, so heck him.

He isn't going to make the final 53 so it isn't really an issue, so no.

Totally agree. He has made no attempt to check himself in to a rehab facility to get rid of his dependence of weed and booze. Therefore, I have no sympathy for him. Keeping him is just another embarrassment for this team.

As far as JJ is concerned, bad publicity is better than no publicity at all.:icon_frown:
