The continuing absence of injured cornerback Richard Marshall at Miami Dolphins practice doesn't bode well for a pass defense ranked 30th and now preparing for the Bengals' eighth-ranked passing attack.

Marshall, who's been nursing a back ailment for several weeks, missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday, but backup Nolan Carroll (Achilles) was back on the field.

Marshall, 31, has committed a team-high four penalties and was torched on a 46-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Kolb to Andre Roberts in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.
