Miami Dolphins defensive end Phillip Merling was arrested on domestic violence charges, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Merling has been accused of attacking his pregnant girlfriend. Per the report, the former second-round draft pick was arrested in Weston, Fla., and charged with aggravated battery on a victim he should have known was pregnant. Merling, 25, is a former Clemson standout who recorded 33 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks last season. Three other Dolphins have been arrested since February: cornerback Will Allen and Ronnie Brown (driving under the influence charges) and defensive lineman Tony McDaniel (domestic battery).
