The Miami Herald reported Monday that the Dolphins "quietly extended" Ireland's contract in the offseason. The new deal ensures Ireland is under contract through at least the 2014 season. He's not in a "contract year" after all. The Dolphins officially declined comment to the Herald on the matter, but the release of the information is conveniently timed. If we learned that Ireland was extended in the offseason, a lot of fans would be upset. Now that his offseason moves are paying off, it's a good time for the team to remind everyone that Ireland knows what he's doing. Source:NFL.com
