Now that the Miami Dolphins have Joe Philbin in place as their next head coach, the attention swings to soon-to-be free agent QB Matt Flynn. Miami needs a quarterback and it just so happens that Philbin coached one of best available options while in Green Bay. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald writes that the Dolphins do have interest in Flynn but added that they’re not assuming that he’ll sign with the team simple because they brought in his former offensive coordinator to be their head coach. There will be a number of teams interest in Flynn if the Packers choose not to franchise him. Already we’ve heard that the Redskins and Browns have interest and the Seahawks could also check in on him at some point. Source: NFL Trade Rumors
4/$20 is what an average back-up QB makes in this league ............. i think a team will be looking at flynn as a starter and will need to give him starter money .................. we have about as much game history on flynn as the texans did with schaub when they gave him 4/$48 and as much as the cards had with kolb when they gave him 6/$60 ................ i'm going to guess flynn will get something along the lines or more than either one of those ..............
Flynn has been on the radar for a while now. I compare his situation more to Shuab the Kolb, who had pretty much shown he wasnt a starting caliber QB before Arizona hit the panic button
I think Flynn is gonna be a Pro Bowler. He had first round talent coming out of school but only played one year at LSU and was just way too erratic
Whoever signs him better hope he isn't the next Rob Johnson. I am sure Bills fans have a special place in their hearts for that bust.
yep, but that week 17 game earned him millions MORE than what he would have gotten if he hadn't played at all this season i think this is getting more in the ballpark of what someone is going to give him
yep, when the texans acquired schaub and paid him all that money, it was basically all based on that one game he started against the patriots in 2005.
Yep, that was a gamble as well. Flynn took advantage of the (usual) great corps of WR/TE GB has on the roster. did they made him look good, or the other way around? Anyway, he can be a starter on other teams, so it's a logical move for him, to play elsewhere
yes, i think one or more teams will view him as the next matt schaub and will bring him in as their new starter ................ i can't really blame them ......... he's looked good whenever he's been on an nfl field............
I dont think he will be. The two things that killed Johnson was that he was brittle and mentally weak. Talent wise he had the tools, and lighted it up in a few times in Buffalo. His problem was the contravesry with Flutie. Truth is Flutie sucked. That team won in spite of him. But he was popular. If Johnson would have went out and dropped 300 yards and 2 or 3 TD's like he did his very first game in Buffalo when he had to he would have been fine
Could be a nice score for the Pack. A limitless bit of a gamble... I think he's more Matt Schaub than Rob Johnson though...lol.
They would have to tag him, but it wont be hard to move him if they do. Only thing is it may hurt trade leverage because they would HAVE to move him. However being that if they didnt he would walk and they get nothing (well actually they could get a very high comp pick in 2013), not being greedy and doing what the Pats did with Cassell (early 2nd) would be wise
