While many expect the Dolphins to keep Ryan Tannehill on the bench this season, his familiarity with the playbook that offensive coordinator Mike Sherman implemented in College Station could get him on the field earlier according to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post. Coach Joe Philbin said Tannehill will be given the same opportunity to win the starting job as veterans Matt Moore and David Garrard, but shot down the notion that Tannehill knows more about the offense than the other two quarterbacks. "Those guys have been working hard since April 10," Philbin said of Moore and Garrard. "At some point that knowledge is going to even itself out, and the difference is going to be the decision-making, the accuracy, the playmaking ability." Philbin said he hasn't talked to Tannehill about whether he should try to establish himself as a team leader or try to blend in as one of the guys. "Part of the fun process in coaching is to get a sense for how these guys handle themselves on their own a little bit," Philbin said. Tannehill, though, was eager to establish himself, at least among his fellow rookies. Egnew noted that Tannehill broke down the team huddle to conclude practice. "Well, I hope I'm looked at as the leader of the team," Tannehill said. "Especially (at) these rookie mini-camps. Quarterbacks are the leaders of the team and I want to try to get guys going, get guys playing together and make everyone around me better." Source: The Redzone
