Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton has a private workout scheduled with the Dolphins, a source is telling the NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora. General Manager Jeff Ireland has promised to do all his homework on quarterbacks. The Dolphins need a game-changer at the position so they are apparently leaving no pebble unturned and dismissing no possibility in an effort to upgrade. Picking Newton, assuming he is available when the Dolphins select at No. 15, isn't necessarily an instant upgrade. Wherever he is selected, the chances of him starting immediately are slim, the kid is a physical speciman at 6-foot-5 and 248 pounds, he runs like the wind and he has a bazooka for an arm.

Well yes and no, yeah becuase the two are different prospects. But the Dolphins already tried and failed with a gimmick "winner" QB.

Ah the fabled "winner" tag, used by people to defend the mediocre play of a QB where the only thing that can be used to defend him is that the players team wins. Illustrious "winner" QB's include Vince Young and Pre-2010 Kyle Orton (Who ironically gets less credit now even though he had his best season).

I agree Andy. But that's what people continue to proclaim.

Don't drink the Cam Newton Kool-Aid kids. He's a bad pick if you need a QB now. He's 2-3 years away from being ready to play and there are doubts he can even do that. Want a QB? Start your list with Gabbert and if he's gone ride it out until the second round when names like Ponder and Dalton might start to appeal.
