Jeff Darlington of NFL.com reports the Miami Dolphins are expected to release defensive end Phillip Merling today, sources say. Combined with under-performing, Merling's lack of discipline has worn thin with Dolphins, sources said. He hasn't been attending workouts. Merling was a secnd-round pick of the Dolphins out of Clemson in 2008.

still a young player. Some team will pick him up and try to get him to play up to his talent.

Loved him coming out, but had a feeling he wouldn't amount to much.
