  2. McNabb was a fringe HOF after leaving the Eagles........but his last two seasons in Washington and Minnesota have dog crapped his chances of being in the HOF.

Nah. Good player. Very good, but not Hall of Fame worthy IMO. Even without the Redskins and Vikings I don't think he was one. Borderline yes. But I wouldn't vote him in.

I agree. A good player but not an elite player. He isn't one to take a team on his back and win it all. He needs to be a secondary player to suceed.

If Joe Namath can make it in (don't use his Super Bowl ring as a bargaining chip) then I don't see why McNabb doesn't make it. During the years of all those NFC Championship appearances he was an elite QB IMO. These last two years don't mean crap because great players a lot of the time start doing poorly towards the end.

Why should the ring not count? Rings count enormously in Hall of Fame consideration. There's no way McNabb gets in.

Because like I've said before rating a QB by his rings is the freaking dumbest thing in the world. By that logic you're basically saying the Brad Johnsons, Trent Dilfers and so on of football are better QB's then the Dan Marinos and Warren Moons which is complete bullcrap. Football IS NOT like basketball where one player has the potential to make or break you. Furthermore Joe has 47 more picks then TD's so IMO the Jets won in spite of him, even though I've heard he had did play well in the big game.

I'm not saying that. I'm just saying it should be a factor when a player becomes eligible. Dan Marino was an amazing quarterback who just didn't get a ring. He should be in. Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, etc were mediocre QB's who lucked out and played on teams with amazing defenses. Donovan McNabb is not an elite QB, and certainly not a HoF one. But if he had a ring it would strengthen his case to get in. Rings should factor in, but they shouldn't make the case.

Might as well fire bomb the HOF is someone like McNabb can get in. It's the best of the best of the best. Period. Seems like everyone these days thinks they should be in the Hall.

McNabb's numbers are almost identical to Hall of Famer Jim Kelly's. Kelly also had more weapons then McNabb for most of his career. I think people generally just don't like McNabb because with almost the same amount of success as one Hall of Famer and better overall numbers then another who lucked into getting a ring I think it's bull that he's not getting more consideration. I'm not saying he should be a sure fire thing but people just right him off as being a bum. The Eagles would of probably never made it to the playoffs without him in the early 2000's let alone NFC championships. I don't know I guess I think crap through logically and realistically and don't let the media or personal issues get in my way of judgment.

So you're going to look back in 20 years and say Donovan McNabb was one of the greatest QB's to every play in the NFL? I don't think so.

Kelly played in a time where passing was slowly becoming more prominent. McNabb's stats were inflated because he played on a team where passing was done more than 75% of the time. And McNabb's stats were not that great when it mattered most. I agree that Namath doesn't deserve the hall.

Why don't people understand you can't compare player's stats from different eras?

No crap. There are 4 players on pace to shatter Marino's single season passing yards record, one of which is Cam Newton. Brady is on pace for over 5,900. It's a passing league now, not a running league. Stats don't translate from one era(or even decade) to another.

Uhhhh I said, I wouldn't say he was a sure fire Hall Of Famer but guess what Joe Namath is not one of the best to ever play but that piece of crap is in the Hall of Fame. So IMO the Hall is a joke and anybody with more then two pro bowls should be voted in on GP.

Thank God someone sees that Namath is not deserving. But I think Jim Kelly's numbers are more diminished because of the era he played in. Defenses weren't expecting the hurry up shotgun offense so he was always at an advantage. We can say the same thing about about the Peyton's numbers after Edgerrin James left and they had no running game. It took them 3 seasons I believe to rush for 100 yards in a game and that was against the Saints in the Superbowl.

There are too many factors in this day and age with the changes in the game to say who's not deserving.

The era of Jim Kelly was the starting point of the passing era so you can compare those.

The dude carried the Eagles offense on his back for like 5 years and excelled while doing it. The man holds almost every record for QB's in Eagles history. He has the 2nd best TD-INT ratio in NFL HISTORY(that's a long time) only behind Brady, Has over 30,000 passing yards and over 3.000 rushing. One of 5 to do that and 3 of the other five are in the hall. The man was a beast for a long time and really was one of the premier and elite QB's in football. Before McNabb got there look what they did under Doug Pederson? McNabb is an all time great and when is all said and done deserves to be in the HOF.

The word elite and McNabb do not belong in the same sentence as HOF and McNabb doesn't either... Breaking a teams records means nothing... He was good but not great he was good while the rest of NFC was bad.
