Donovan McNabb, opiner of many things these days, was pretty blunt when asked about the offense Chip Kelly has brought to the NFL via the Philadelphia Eagles, McNabb's former team. “To me, it’s just a fad,†McNabb said. “I don’t know if any offensive player would want to run 90 plays in a game," he said. "If you’re running 90 plays in a game, that means your defense is pretty awful and you’re running entirely too many plays. “At Oregon, [Kelly] may have ran 75 plays in a game, but you’re not going to run 85, 90, not in the NFL, and teams and defensive coordinators are a lot better than what you’re going to see in college.†Source: Yahoo! The pace is unsustainable and it's unfair to your defense. They had the ball for 20 MINUTES!!! How in the FREAK do you only keep the ball for 20 minutes? If Chip was gunning for a top 5 draft pick, he's well on his way. Another loss next week to Denver and then going to NY? 1-4 might be a pretty strong possibility here. Is it time for Spring Training yet? Aye.
that offense can't last. their defense is on the field entirely too much. all the other team has to do is run ball control offense and have a decent defense and voila, loss. On a side note, does it strike anyone else as funny that the Eagle fans are booing when the other team slows down the game. Like they are supposed to go up tempo with them. And booing when the other team's players have cramps from running so much.
Id agree that it wont last. Im personally not a fan of trying to bust out as many plays as possible on offense because it puts your defense on the field too much and wears them out.
I'm sure teams took notice, but the N East is so banged up right now they may not be able to do much about it
We are booing because the opposing players are faking the injuries. Its a busch league way of slowing the game down. And yes.. they are faking it.
The Eagles have a new HC that knows all about offense, but he knows nothing about defense. I've heard that all 32 NFL teams have been sent memos about faking injuries. If they don't stop this, teams are liable to get fines, suspensions, and possibly draft choices taken away from them. Stay tuned.
how about when the fans booed the Chargers for "taking too much time" between plays. that's how it goes. if teams want to speed it up then the opponent will slow it down. we don't have to accommodate the Eagles if they want to speed up the game and tire out their defense.
I was at the game and dont remember anyone booing the chargers for taking time off the clock. Its called managing the game.
who cares what mccraphead says anyway? his ego does not him to say anybody has done a better job than he ever has! he should just keep his mouth shut!
Some a couple of times ? Sure they werent booing the defense cause that was pretty much after every patheic play.
