The Eagles cut 12 players on Sunday, following the team's third preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Of the players released by Philadelphia, the most familiar name to be let go by the squad is fourth-year linebacker Jamar Chaney. The news of Chaney's release came hours after the announcement of the other 11 players that included Kenny Phillips and Eddie Whitley. Chaney's tenure with the Eagles has had major hills and valleys, and this was a move that should come as no surprise to those who follow the team. While he drew praise and excitement for his rookie season's exploits as a seventh-round pick out of Mississippi State, Chaney has been mostly underwhelming as he has attempted to plug holes at almost all of the Eagles' linebacker spots. skins should bring both guys in a give them a look.somebody will sign them, phillips could maybe go to new york who lost their safety for the year saturday with a torn acl.
I think Chaney can be an excellent linebacker in this league. We moved the dude around from mike to sam to will multiple times and didn't give him long stints at any one position for enough time. I think his best position is in the middle and if given the opportunity, he'll be a player.
