Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports he thinks both Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers and Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards are on the board for the Eagles. "Peppers is intriguing," McLane said. The Panthers aren't likely to tag him next week, so that means he's out there for the taking. A little birdie told me that Peppers loves the Eagles. He played for the coaching staff in last year's Pro Bowl and thinks he could fit in. He'd be a great complement to [Trent] Cole, but he's going to command top dollar." Source: Philadelphia Inquirer
Oh dear good let it be true!!! If we get Peppers opposite of T.Cole then the secondary would look so much better which I'm sure will be addressed in this years draft with a Safety, Linebacker and Corners. Not to mention the return of Bradley and Ingram to the team its really really exciting **********Automerged Doublepost********** Only problem i have with him is that his motor can go hot or cold but hopefully a new deal, new uniform, and another great DE would make his motor run hot
You guys got Kearse near the end of his career and he was somewhat effective. Now you guys can get Peppers near the end of his, he's declining. Only difference is Peppers will cost much much more $$$$.
his age would dictate they dont sign him but i am not sure what any FA will get with the looming strike but with no cap teams may pay a vast majority of the money to players in 2010 which would allow them to dump players early in the contract if they dont pan out and avoid to cap hit. thats why i like the idea.
Acquiring Peppers wouldn't be out of character for the Eagles. They've gone after some huge names over recent years. Owens, Kearse, Samuel, and Peters. Did I miss anybody?
at his age it is way out of character. he just turned 30 and just like with owens it was away from the norm but owens was a unique situation as this may be.
Dead on. Usually they are cutting the 30 year olds. Like you said though, this is a unique situation. The guy still has a lot of juice left in the tank. Let's not forget, he does take about 30% of the plays off during the season so that just means he is a little more fresh than other guys his age. :icon_cheesygrin: 70% effort or not, give me this guy for a huge contract in a heartbeat. Get this juicer motivated enough and he'll put 15 sacks up with ease.
Ray edwards is not a good pass rusher, which is what the Eagles are looking for, but I really liked his intensity in the playoffs
