The Eagles face a tough situation considering RB Brian Westbrook is slated to make more than $7 million next season after seeing his role reduced following a midseason concussion and the wear and tear of a 30-year-old back. In December, Westbrook openly wondered about his future, not only with the Eagles but in the NFL, the first time he talked about retirement but if he decides to play, the Eagles could decide not to bring him back, almost certainly not at his current salary. The future of the RB position belongs to LeSean McCoy, but he was not strong enough down the stretch to convince the team that he alone is ready to man the load.

Our run game sucks right now if we play a good defense we cant run the ball. If westbrook is willing to reconstruct his contract to stay i wouldent mind that.

Someone will sign him...he hasn't hit "Shaun Alexander" status yet...

He'll have a lot of RB Competition on the Free Agent Market if he does wind up hitting it.

Westbrook, Parker, Cadillac, Darren Sproles, LenDale White, Mike Bell, Leon Washington, Norwood, Taylor...possibly Ronnie Brown, Pierre Thomas, Portis...

The decision is easy, cut him cause he sucks. I'd prefer if they did keep him though, keep there crapty one dimensional offense.

Dare I say theres better Running Backs available in Free Agency than there is in this years draft..

I still think Westbrook has more left in the tank he's not in football shape since being injured.

This has got to be one of the most ignorant posts that I've ever came across. Saying that Westbrook sucks takes any football validity that you might have had away completely. He's been one of the best and more dynamic RB's this league has ever seen and probably the best pass catching RB of all time. The last few years he's been one of the best HR play RB's in the league and he's a very tough player that's played through a lot of injuries over the years.

He's just played a lot of seasons now and his body is finally banged up really bad now just like any RB that's played as long as he has for the most part. If he is healthy, he can play well, but he'll no longer stay healthy consistently. That is not sucking, that's just wearing down after so many touches for so many seasons.

Best and more Dynamic RB's of all time? okay... right. He had two really good years and almost all of his receiving yards came off of little dump offs and screens. You can tout him all you want but his numbers don't back you up on this.

HIs numbers have been great for like the last 5 seasons. And are you honestly trying to bash his receiving numbers because they came off of screens and dump pass plays? That really makes your opinion seem worse here. The screen pass play has been one of the most effective plays in the NFL this decade ever since Marshall Faulk showed how effective RB's could be in the passing game. Westbrook has been the pass catching RB of all time. He took more screen passes to the house than any other RB. Half of those screen passes were just glorified running plays that were designed to be just like a running play, but it gets the RB in better space where he can make moves and make people miss. Westbrook has had great hands and catches everything thrown to him, he runs behind his blockers extremely well, and has been a good runner in between the tackles when many people doubted him. It really doesn't matter if his bigger plays usually came off of pass plays. Catching passes is part of a RB's job just as much as running the ball off of hand offs are.

These comments of yours come off like you're just a Cowboys fan that hates the guy because he played for a rival team.

Yea his stats dont look so great because people just look at his rushing yards and like you said the screen passes were basicly runs.

    2004 1515 yards
    2005 1233 yards
    2006 1916 yards
    2007 2104 yards
    2008 1338 yards

2009 the guy only had 61 total carries give him a break he had 2 concusions and barley played. On his 61 carries still averaged 4.5 a carry.

I want him back but he probably needs to take a pay cut

He has never been 'consistently healthy'.

That doesn't mean he still is.

I'm just glad it's not my decision to make. No matter what the front office decides to do, they are going to get hammered if it doesn't work out.
