Eagles Have Interest In Signing QB Brett Favre?

Discussion in 'Philadelphia Eagles' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jul 23, 2011.

  1. Howard Eskin of WIP radio in Philly reports that the Eagles have some interest in Brett Favre once they trade quarterback Kevin Kolb. Sources have told Ruskin that its possible the Eagles will sign Favre. The move would reunite Favre with Andy Reid, who was an assistant with the Packers before becoming a head coach in 1999. Favre would be the No. 2 quarterback behind Michael Vick in Philadelphia and act as a safety net in the event Vick is injured. Eskin also reported that he received no comment from Favre's agent, Bus Cook.

You have got to be kidding me....for one, you're supposed to make me believe he's willing to be a backup?

  9. John Henry didn't know when to quit either and we all know how that story ended.

The only teeny tiny hitch to this idea is that it would mean that one of the all-time greatest QBs in NFL history would have to basically agree to hold the clipboard for an entire season and be paid a paltry million dollars to do it. After the career he has had, would he opt to do this? Furthermore, the second Vick struggles, you'll have instant QB controversy in this town.

There's just no way it's happening -- although it'd make the Eagles even funner to root against.

Eskin is a known jackbutt. Him saying this is no surprise...he's looking for attention during the lockout. Just wanting to be so controversial. More than half that comes out if his mouth is bullcrap.

That right there. Even if Favre expresses interest, it will be because he has his own agenda of wanting to start. If/when he goes, he'll use every opportunity possible to say he wants the starting job. Imagine if Vick went on a two game losing streak? Fans would be calling for Favre in a matter of minutes. I don't want that. Vick has his confidence and swagger back. Don't ruin it by bringing Favre in.

If anything, this seems more like Eskin throwing something against the wall and hoping it sticks so he can look like a genius. He and his sources aren't very reliable.
