The agent for Eagles kicker David Akers said his client "isn't really fazed" by the team's fourth-round selection of kicker Alex Henery despite the indication that Akers' accomplished tenure here is over. "He looks at things in a big-picture type of way," Jerrold Colton told The News Journal on Saturday. "He wants to see where he ends up next." Akers is expected to become a free agent when the new league year begins but it's unlikely that he will re-sign for a 13th season with the Eagles. Teams rarely carry two kickers on their roster and wouldn't normally use a fourth-round pick on a kicker unless it planned to play him immediately. The team tried to retain Akers, 36, before the lockout by using the transition tag that would have kept him around for another year and given the sides an opportunity to work out an extension, but Akers decided against signing the tender.

Love me some Akers, but it was about time to start looking at other options. Not sure if I'm comfortable getting rid of Akers this year but I doubt the team is going to carry two kickers.

Early reports are Washington and Dallas as possible landing spots for Akers. I wouldn't mind having him in Pittsburgh for a year or two.
