Michael Vick was named The Associated Press NFL Comeback Player of the Year on Saturday night. Vick was signed by the Eagles in 2009 after missing two seasons due to the prison term he served for his role in a dogfighting operation. A role player in 2009, Vick was not expected to be the starter for the Eagles in 2010 but starter Kevin Kolb suffered a concussion back in Week One and was replaced by Vick who played brilliantly in the second half of that game as well as the following week in the win over Detroit. Head coach Andy Reid promptly named Vick the starter for the remainder of the season and Vick led the Eagles to their first NFC East Division title since 2006. A three-time Pro Bowl quarterback prior to his imprisonment, Vick was voted the starter for the NFC Pro Bowl squad by the fans, players and coaches after setting new career highs in passing yards, passing touchdowns, passer rating, rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns.

From being out of the league, then a bench player, into a Pro Bowler again? Not sure what there isn't to get about it.

He was out of the league two years ago, he came back last year and played well last year. Just because he was given a full-time starter job due to injury, in his second year back and played well makes him the comeback player? lol...

Yes? I'm struggling to see what your point is here.

He was a bench player who came on sparingly last season, to being one of the best this season. If that isn't worthy of Comeback Player of the Season, then they might as well stop giving out the award.

    Point is...He was already "back"...two season ago...lol.

I think WARD is suggesting that most improved player would be more fitting.

There have been plenty of winners that have won the award and were never gone to begin with. You should know that.

Or just a player that has comeback from adversity in the season he was named Comeback Player of the Year.

    Which doesn't make it better...lol.

If it offends you that much, write a letter to the NFL.

Ya see andy, the problem here is that your looking at this with logic and reason. Ward is looking at it with bias and hate.

I totally can see why Vick won this award. Who was going to beat him, Mike Williams? Please.

Depends, does being a lazy fat butt who did little into comparison with Vick count as being worthy of an award that should be for playing in the face of adversity?

    lol...

You thought he played well in 2009? You don't think he was leaps and bounds better this season? If so, that's why you don't get why he got the award.

Exactly. Someone might make the case for Roethlisberger for all he went through in the offseason. Thing is, it never affected his level of play on the field so technically there is no comeback.

It doesn't really offend me. I was just asking what adversity he faced from last season to this season. Which is none. lol...

Don't recall ever saying I hate Mike Vick. I actually like his play on the field. I've defended it many times since he was criticized in Atlanta. Nice try though...

lol...couldn't be that both players matured...one just happen to do it a year before the other.

In spots he did and you can't argue that he was phenomenally better this season. Just wasn't his comeback season. Last season was...if he had this season performance last year, it wouldn't be a question. You can't "comeback" when you've already arrived and played well in spots...lol. But obviously the voters think you can.

That means Tommy Maddox needs to give back his award then. He was signed in 2001 but won in 2002 after he took over for an injured Kordell Stewart. Jim Plunkett will have to give back his award in 1980 too. Hell, he was a backup for TWO years before he won.

    Sound familiar?

You don't win the award just based on being out of the league.

Vick improved his performance more than anyone else I can think of.
