Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was scheduled to host a Memorial Day kickoff party at the Gulfstream Park & Casino in Hallandale Beach, Florida on May 28. Vick received half of his $10,000 appearance upfront, over 1,500 partygoers, and some animal rights protesters showed up, but Robert Nolin of the Sun-Sentinel reports Vick failed to show up to the party. Vick's Atlanta-based booking agent claims Vick couldn't make it Florida because his flights were canceled due to inclement weather but Nolin's research shows that the flights were delayed, not canceled. "I don't know what to do," party promoter Darnell Aponte said. "This was my first full-blown event. For me to lose $20,000 hurts...This is like near catastrophic." Aponte adds that Vick was unapologetic about not showing up. "He wasn't apologetic at all," Aponte said. "He had a really poor attitude: 'I missed my flight, what the heck do you want me to do about it?'" Vick's booking agent has offered to reschedule an event, but Aponte isn't sure he'll organize one. "It's not worth the risk," said Aponte. "It's going to be hard for me to get people to come out for him again." Source: Sun-Sentinel
