Eagles QB Michael Vick Says He'd Like To Own A Dog Again

About 18 months after his release from federal prison on a dogfighting conviction, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick said Wednesday that he wants to own a dog again someday, according to an interview on TheGrio.com. "I would love to get another dog in the future. I think it would be a big step for me in the rehabilitation process," Vick said. The federal judge who sentenced him to 23 months in federal prison also banned Vick from ever owning another dog. "I think just to have a pet in my household and to show people that I genuinely care, and my love and my passion for animals; I think it would be outstanding. If I ever have the opportunity again I will never take it for granted. I miss having a dog right now. I wish I could. My daughters miss having one, and that’s the hardest thing; telling them that we can’t have one because of my actions."

For real though, let him have one. Make it like when you have assisted visits with separated parents. Let him get a dog and have a court appointed person watch him for a while. I honestly think Vick learned his lesson. Give him his chance to show it.

i thought this story was a joke when i first came across it but then i found it on legitimate nfl news sites.

i can't believe vick said it. the dude's decision making is so poor I almost feel sorry for him he's such a dumbass ............ it was during an interview so we don't know what the question was, but even if the interviewer point blank asked him, "Do you want to own another dog?", he could have just said, "the courts will not allow it, so it doesn't matter if i want one or not".

and, if his girls want a 'pet', get them a freaking cat or a pot-bellied pig or something else ............ why even discuss a dog? jesus, what an idiot. i'm sorry, but there are a handful of players in this league that don't have enough brain cells to function normally in this world and vick is one of them. those close to him should prevent him from talking ................. ever. cut out his tongue or whatever, but just get some of these guys to stfu.

Hypocritical as hell to say he's paid his debts, learned his lesson, and as such deserves to make millions playing a game but don't ever let him own a dog. President of the Humane Society who works with Vick regularly in his speaking engagements supports Vick being allowed to own a dog

Let him have a dog. I'm all for it, especially if he has kids. Dogs are awesome for kids. If the guy is actually rehabilitated, and viewed to be so by the courts and Humane Society then why the hell not? It's not like he's a freaking PEDOPHILE.
