Eagles Select USC QB Matt Barkley (Rd.4, No. 98)

With the 98th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Eagles select USC QB Matt Barkley. Though not elite in terms of his height, arm strength, or mobility, he will capably move an NFL offense with accurate short throws possessing sufficient zip (69.1 percent completion rate in 2011), solid decision-making ability, and enough downfield touch to take advantage of a talented receiving corps. Although it ended disappointingly, the fact he decided to return to school for 2012 to help his team compete for a national championship after being on a postseason ban is just one measure of his intangibles.

The gayness has ran deep (snicker) for a long time here. I know we needed defense but to get this guy in the 4th, you have to take it.

 

I guess Chip didn't lie when he said he wasn't all about the read-option.

Having two young guys like Foles and Barkley to develop gives me a gd boner.

 

You'd better hope he's not a bust like Leinart and Sanchez.

So Barkley spends a year on the Practice Squad? You don't carry Vick, Foles and Barkley on the active roster. And you sure as hell don't carry 4 QB's with Dixon in there. I am completely and utterly confused by Chip Kelly.

 

Dixon is as good as gone. They'll probably keep the 3 QBs and just keep one inactive each game.

barkley does remind me a bit of brees, good for kelly sticking to his board...he saw him a lot in the pac 12
