The Philadelphia Eagles announced that they will sign fullback Owen Schmitt. Schmitt replaces Pro Bowl fullback Leonard Weaver, who suffered "a severe tear" of the ACL in his left knee on Sunday. A fifth-round pick (163rd overall) in 2008 NFL Draft out of West Virginia by the Seattle Seahawks, the 6-2, 250-pound Schmitt has 21 yards rushing and 12 receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown in 30 games during his two-year NFL career. Schmitt, who also has 10 tackles on special teams, was waived by the Seahawks last Sunday after the team signed running back Michael Robinson. The Eagles have also promoted Garrett Mills off the practice squad and signed offensive lineman Fenuki Tupou to the practice squad. Source: Mac's Football Blog
