ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting via his Twitter page that the Philadelphia Eagles have signed cornerback Marlin Jackson to a two year contract. Jackson, a former Indianapolis Colt, was reported to have left Philadelphia without a contract and was headed to visit the New York Jets. Jackson is entering his 6th season but has only played in 11 games over the last two years due to injuries.

Damn, i started to like the idea of signing him. Eagles usually willing to take chances on players with injuries

They are saying now he was signed as a free safety. Macho has some competition.

Meh. Corner or safety wasn't super high on the priorities anyways. Doesn't hurt us/help us much at all.

    Samuel, Brown, Hanson, Hobbs.

Nope, I'm very satisfied with that foursome. WAY bigger needs than to worry about corner.

Another year for Macho at the position and the kid will be a stud. Competition couldn't hurt but I don't believe this guy played much, if any, safety, so I don't see him making an impact there.

I wish that was true but we are not gonna be a top 5 defense unless we get someone opposite of T. Cole to provide pressure on the QB

Parker had 8 sacks, Howard had 6.5, and Abiamiri and Clemons threw a few in as well.

True but Cole gets double teamed and whoever is opposite of him should be getting more pressure and sacks in the 1 on 1.

I'm referring to safety as the obvious priority need, not corner as it is widely assumed the Eagles signed him to compete at safety.
Though if you wanna talk corner.....it remains to be seen how Hobbs is going to be after his injury and Sheldon still hasn't got paid so we have to play THAT game again.

Nothing special about this signing. Jackson's average at best...if he makes it onto the field.

If Jackson never play's a down or is the worst DB in the NFL, they're still better than NY.

    I love Free Agency

While safety is a high priority my belief has always been that a good solid front 4 that provide enough pressure with out the need for blitzing makes any secondary much better since the QB has less time to hold the ball or to wait for a receiver to be open so for me someone that can compliment Trent Cole is a primary need over needing a safety cause it doesn't matter if you have the best safety if you give a QB enough time he will make the DB pay for the time

a lot of howard's came while the defense was in the joker package and he played DT. parker does well but sucks against the run and all of them benefit from the double teams cole gets. they need another more consistent guy that can play 3downs.

this move is a k-mart blue light special signing. nothing else.
