Eagles TE Brent Celek Apologizes For "Captain Morgan" Pose

When Eagles tight end Brent Celek caught a short touchdown pass early in the second half against the Cowboys, I noticed him pose in the back of the end zone for a moment. The Eagles were hit with a 15-yard demonstration penalty based on that fact that wide receiver Jason Avant came over to participate with Celek during his pose. Celek responded via text messages to Matt Mosley of ESPN, "First of all I apologize to the NFL and the Eagles organization. I didn't feel like it was going to blow up like this. It started out as a small charity deal for my wife, who works for Captain Morgan, and obviously it blew up bigger than that. Again, I'm sorry if it offended anyone, but it won't happen again."

What else is he supposed to do? This was his best option, politically. Granted. the NFL is wrong.. if I'm being paid what he is, I'm going to apologize too. Just sayin'..

Goodell is such a hypocrite. He gets on Celek for doing something for Captain Morgan, while he's obviously getting kickbacks from Keystone beer for trying to bring back the bitter beer face!

I don't blame him in the least. It's better to apologize and try to save face, than to have the Eagles organization and the NFL as a whole pissed off at him. Even if they're still a little pissed off, it's better than ignoring it.
