According to Sports Illustrated's Don Banks, the Eagles "love" quarterback Kevin Kolb and won't trade him unless "somebody blows their doors off" with an offer. The National Football Post's Michael Lombardi suggested a Kolb for Shaun Rogers trade with Cleveland, but a 31-year-old defensive tackle doesn't qualify for door-blowing. The Eagles won't trade Donovan McNabb without a windfall return, either, so they'll enter next season with both QB's unless another team overpays. Source: NBC Sports
I can't truly believe the Eagles are willing to throw away their future stud QB (which he could be) simply to please McNabb. Can a franchise be seriously goobered?
The headline is pretty misleading. Anyone's available for the right price. You throw out enough 1st rounders you could get Tom Brady. It doesn't mean the Pats are interested in trading him. All the article says is how little the Eagles want to trade Kolb but the headline implies that they are shopping him.
While it is all fun and games replying to these threads, people... please... don't take ANY of this bullcrap seriously. Even the McNabb trade rumors. The Eagles likely will get rid of Vick and might trade one of the other two, but we won't know a damn thing till a week or so before the draft. So before we start calling a franchise 'goobered', let's realize the source of the article and what they are actually confirming. Which is nothing.
Yes and no. The Eagles clearly know how to win games consistantly -- just not the BIG games. Cutting ties with Kolb would indeed be goobered, but keeping McNabb another 5 years to beat up upon the likes of the Bucs, Rams, and Redskins would mean that they'll remain competitive for years to come. Of course, they'll remain championshipless because McNabb can't win a big game against a good team. Being good enough is what most of the fans around here -- and certainly the organization -- seem to be content with. The bottom line is that the decision HAS to be made concerning McNabb or Kolb this offseason or they will be squandering the opportunity to get any value for one or both of them at the end of the 2010 season.
Any one of the 3 Qb's can be tarded this year for the "right offer" I would like to see Vick be the future of the Eagles "BUT " I dont see that happening..
