ESPN will announce Wednesday that Adam Schefter will join the network in mid-August - as soon as his contract with the NFL Network expires. His first day likely will be Aug. 17, when the Panthers face the Giants in a preseason game. Schefter had been with the NFL Network since 2004 but has been off the air for several months after negotiations for a new contract went sour. "I had a great time there and appreciate everything they did and I wish them the best in the future," he said by phone Tuesday. "ESPN treated me the way I thought and hoped the NFL Network would - and I don't mean financially." Source: Newsday
Wow...huge upgrade for ESPN. Schefter instantly becomes the most credible reporter the network has... After seeing what Werder and Mort (or should I say their "sources") did with the Favre story, the network heads have to be happy with this...
Lets not forget NFL Network is owned by the NFL who could or might have given Scheffter some inside info before the news actually broke. Lets see how he does without the NFL Network contacts. If he keeps bad mouthing the NFL Network I wouldn't be surprised that NFL stop giving him inside info. Does anybody know if Scheffter's contract runs out in August why isn't he working for the NFL Network? I mean he's still under contract with them and he still should be reporting. On Mort who I think has the least creditability of all the so call "insiders". I remember who TO was in Buffalo, Mort reported (and it was on the ESPNEWS sports ticker) which teams TO might end up and the Bills was NOT of them. It was funny that at very moment ESPN was reporting this, TO was in Buffalo about to sign the contract. IMO Jay Glaser is the best and he will remain as the best inside info guy.
^^^^ Schefter's reporting will turn to crap and he will be revealed as the wormy little bastard I have suspected he is.
The NFL wasn't feeding Schefter information on the teams...they wouldn't know any different...Regardless of whether the NFL is "feeding" Schefter information or not, he's still going to have an abundance of the sources that he's always had and it just seems like his "sources" are much better than Mort's, Clayton's or Werder's. But now that he is at ESPN, will the sources bring the same tpe of info to the table? That could be quetionable... Any word of who the NFL plans to hire as Schefter's replacement? Media Guy?

Have fun working with clowns like Mark Schlereth, Cris Carter, Trent Dilweed I mean Dilfer just to name a few. Money had nothing to do with this huh? I say BULLCRAP.
I was wondering if there was going to be one guy...I saw that story a while back...that sounds like there will be a group of reporters... You'd have to think that one of the three, Clayton, Mort, Werder would get let go...no? Maybe not...
Schefter has made so many solid contacts, he will be fine. You can tell just by the way he speaks when he is reporting that he is meticulous and detail orientated. Huge upgrade for ESPN.
