Longtime ESPN anchor Chris Berman wants the network to cross one of the few barriers it has yet to reach in sports TV: Broadcasting the Super Bowl. Berman told colleague Michael McCarthy that he wants ESPN to emerge from the next round of NFL TV contracts with the rights to the league's championship game. The Super Bowl currently rotates among CBS, Fox and NBC, the NFL's three over-the-air TV partners. "We're one of the four (TV) partners," Berman told McCarthy. "Hopefully, the next time around, it will be a four-man rotation. That would be a pinnacle, having a Super Bowl at ESPN." Source: USA Today
The 4 letter network needs to broadcast one before it goes to NFL Network Pay Per View. Cus that is coming.
Don't even talk like that MG, if they get the slightest wind we'll pay for it they'll charge us dearly - probably like 90's heavyweight title fight prices too (89.99+) No kidding, I don't get ESPN and having to stream a bootleg of the Superbowl would just be ridiculous!
now adays most people have cable... and im sure the Mouse will pay whatever it takes to get the bowl to ESPN
I have to agree with you on this it would take it way from being such an event. Also I would want ESPN to get a solid crew for the games before they get to air one.
ESPN will never get a SB becuase the SB has to be on National Free TV people also forget that Disney owns both the ESPN and the ABC so the game would be put on ABC
