The Omaha Nighthawks have invited former Atlanta Falcons quarterback D.J. Shockley to attend their minicamp, and he's confirmed he'll attend. Shockley isn't listed on the Nighthawks' roster. "I just got off the phone with D.J. and he's all set," Nighthawks football operations executive Ken Stills said. "He's a great character guy. We're very excited about having D.J. aboard." Drafted in the seventh round out of the University of Georgia in the 2006 NFL draft, Shockley was out for the entire 2007 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral damage. At the time, he was contending for a starting job.

And look at the job Redman did

Still think we should have cut JPW not Shockley, gives us something different in terms of mobility

He damn near earned himself a shot at the starting job in the 08 season. Blowing his ACL out the second game of the preseason didn't help. Redman managed to pull off a 2-2 run, with a 10-5 TD/INT count winning NFC Player of the Month (December 08), had we started him from the get go, we're probably a 6-7 win team, and not a 3-4 win. But then again, we wouldn't have been in position to draft Matt.

That league needs to expand A LOT. 5 teams, like 30 big named guys. They need to get to 10 or something and move to the spring time. Take the USFL approach.

That being said, good luck DJ!
