Ex-NFL LB Lawrence Taylor On Prostitutes: "I Don't Card Them"

During an interview Tuesday after he was sentenced to six years' probation, Lawrence Taylor made no apologies for visiting a prostitute, and said he did not know she was underage. Taylor, 52, avoided jail time by pleading guilty in January to sexual misconduct and patronizing a 16-year-old prostitute stemming from an incident in May 2010. Both counts are misdemeanors. Speaking on Fox News' "Studio B with Shepard Smith," Taylor said he had asked the prostitute her age, and was told she was 19. "That's not my M.O. I've been around kids and people all my life," said Taylor, a former New York Giants linebacker and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. "I'm not the cause of prostitution. And sometimes I make mistakes and I may go out there. And I didn't go pick her up on no playground. She wasn't hiding behind the school bus or getting off a school bus. This is a working girl that came to my room." Taylor blamed the institution of prostitution for the fact that he ended up with an underage girl. "It's the world of prostitution," he said during the Fox News interview. "You never know what you're gonna get. Is it gonna be a pretty girl, an ugly girl or whatever it's gonna be." Or a young girl? Smith asked. "You can only ask," Taylor said. "I don't card them. I don't ask for a birth certificate." Taylor said he had "no beef" with the girl. "I'll take my punishment like I should, but my problem is at home with my wife, so that's really the only one I have to answer to," he said in the interview. How did he get in the situation in the first place? Smith asked. "It happens sometimes," Taylor said. "I'd been on the road 10 or 11 days and I came in to town. Actually, I made a phone call to a friend of mine, and he made a phone call."

Heres another situation that could happen to anyone lets say you go to the bar tomorrow night and you end up hooking up with a chick there and she turns up to be 17 and had a fake id. Guess what your now up against statutory rape charges! but i guess thats your fault because you didnt do a background check before having some fun

 

I just love that he didn't give the "I'm sorry, I won't do it again" bullcrap. It was "Hey, Crap happens. I got my wife to deal with now." At least its honest.

First off. Age of Consent, at least in Ohio is 16 so I'd be fine. Also I'm only 20 so I'm really fine. No rape charges on me at all.

COME ON MAN, she's 16! STOP freaking forgiving people because it "happens" or because they are famous, it pisses me off.

The American court system is a hecked up piece of crap, they sit around and pursue the hell out of a 18 year old kid for "criminal trespassing" and visiting his GIRLFRIEND on a campus that allows visitation. They will ruin his life.

But an NFL superstar who was prostituting a friggin 16 year old girl can get off like that and say "hell I don't card them blame the industry."

ok so lets say you come to vegas and meet a girl at the bar your used to ohio laws where age of consent is 16 you end up sleeping with a girl that says shes 19 but shes really 16 so are u really responsible and should be charged for s*x with a minor?

What he did by getting a Prostitute is disgraceful but blaming it that it was his fault that she was underaged is not fair because she more then likely lied. Again what could he have done differently other then not get a prostitute.

Think about it? Why the heck is he sleeping with "19" year old girls anyways. He could at least get someone in their mid twenties. I still think its disgraceful and disgusting that he'd be sleeping with someone who is 19 anyways.

However, I take responsibility for my mistakes, and if I was in a similar situation I would at least ADMIT my mistake. Come the hell on.
