When San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh arrived in Ann Arbor to work him out a few days before the NFL draft, Omameh was encouraged. “I guess that was a sign things would work out,†Omameh said Monday at the Bob Ufer Quarterback Club banquet, where he was honored as a Spirit Award winner at Barton Hills Country Club. “I’d been in contact with the O-line coach and Jim himself a little bit for a week and a half and they set up a visit and asked, ‘Could you do a workout?’ †Of course, Omameh said yes. Harbaugh took snaps from him at center, and Omameh did drills as a guard (where he played at U-M) and tackle and quickly signed a free agent contract with the 49ers after the draft. This weekend, he’ll be in their minicamp. “I’m itching for it and ready to get back to football,†Omameh said. “I’m very confident in what I can do, and I’m getting good feedback from them and what they think about me.†Source: Detroit Free Press
