Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith, in a vote conducted by the Sporting News, has been named NFL's Coach of the Year. Smith has led the Falcons to a franchise's best third straight winning season in his three seasons in Atlanta while earning the NFC's top record at 13-3 and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs during the 2010 season. Smith received 23 votes while Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who led the Patriots to the NFL's best record at 14-2, received 14 votes. Eagles coach Andy Reid finished third with 3 votes. Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris, Chiefs coach Todd Haley and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin received 2 votes each. Source: Sporting News
I thought Haley or Morris would get more consideration.....but Smith has led the Falcons to levels of success they have never achieved in annual years before his arrival. Congrats......eace:
While I'm glad Mike won this (no one expected Atlanta to be DIV champs or anywhere near 13-3 this year...including most of us fans), Raheem definitely deserved this. What probably held votes back was the fact that he didn't get in the playoffs.
Although an unpopular choice, how can Belichick not win this award? Every move this guy made (eg., adios Moss) turned out to be right and turned the Pats into a juggernaut. Probably would have twinky of the Year though.
from worst 2 1st...and Haley just recieved 2 votes?!? iv heard of snubbed but the Chiefs recieve something worse than that word....almface:
Zero votes for Mccarthy...pathetic. This game tonight just goes to show that McCarthy should have won this..he is SUCH an underrated coach and play caller.
Why should he have one this? this is an regular season award and the Packers didn't even when their own division. Cmon son.
