The Atlanta Falcons prevailed over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday but that victory has proven very costly to a team with Super Bowl aspirations. Now comes word that the team has been forced to place linebacker Sean Weatherspoon on injured reserve with the designation to return according to atlantafalcons.com. Weatherspoon was forced to leave Sunday's game with a foot sprain and the injury has turned out to be much worse than initially thought. This is a huge blow to a team which had only average talent on the defensive side of the ball to begin with. The short-term IR designation will allow Weatherspoon to come back for a playoff push in the last month of the season but the team will have difficulty filling his shoes in the interim.
