Matt Ryan probably won't, but he has the clout to pull a Joe Flacco. He could take a risk, as Flacco did a year ago, and play out the final year of his rookie deal. Ryan could bet on himself to make even more money than the Atlanta Falcons invariably will offer him once contract negotiations get serious. It's unlikely Ryan will take that tact, but why not? He is as good as Flacco. Source: ESPN
Ryan is better than Flacco, imo, but if I was him I wouldn't take the same route Flacco did. That's a one in a million chance.
I agree. It's risky business. Suppose he gets hurt and misses a majority of the season, has a bad year, Falcons miss the playoffs, etc.
I still remember FSU going up to Alumni Stadium and picking him off 3 times on the way to a 27-17 upset of #2 BC. That's the Matty Ice I'll always remember
Reading his breakdown of how viewed everything went during the NFCCG last year against SF and watching him play those last couple plays with a badly busted shoulder earned me a little respect for him. But get your money now, cause anything can happen and I don't feel that the Falcons defense got much better if at all this off season. A lot more pressure on him and the offense to win games, and everyone in the NFC South got better.
