After two spectacular seasons, wide receiver Roddy White and the Atlanta Falcons are in discussions for a contract extension. White, who made the Pro Bowl for the first time last season, is entering the final year of a five-year contract. White, who is set to make $2.28 million next season under his current contract, said he would like to enter the season with his contract situations resolved. Whenever it happens, it happens, White said. Well just wait around for it. Source: Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I really hope Roddy stays on the right track. I remember reading some quotes from some of the new Falcons coaches last season talking about how they got Roddy's Mom to ride his butt about staying out of the clubs and to hang out with the right people and she wasn't afraid to slap him around a bit. Hopefully his Mom keeps him straight because he's a tremendous talent.
I read an intresting article on this this morning. Apparently one of the reasons there doesnt seem to be much of a rush is that if we go into an uncapped year he will only be a RFA not a UFA for the next 2 years, as under no CBA you need to have 6 years under your belt until you can be a regular FA. No doubt we would just stick the highest tender on him for those 2 years if nothing works out.
