William “Refrigeratorâ€￾ Perry obliterated opponents as the world’s largest fullback with the 1985 Super Bowl champion Bears, but these days he can barely get out of bed. An in-depth report by ESPN’s Tom Friend details the Fridge’s daily struggle with his health, ever-fluctuating weight and alcoholism. According to the article, Perry now weighs about 400 pounds and is putting his life in jeopardy because he doesn’t exercise, take his medicine or abstain from alcohol. Perry was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome in June of 2008 and spent five months in the hospital. He had a relapse in the spring of 2009 as well as pneumonia and nearly died when his blood pressure dropped, he was rushed to the hospital and weighed just 190 pounds when he was admitted.
