Former NFL QB Ray Lucas said he had a plan to kill himself by driving off the George Washington Bridge as he dealt with painkiller addiction. Lucas, who has chronicled his attempt at getting clean on Facebook, is set to reveal more about his struggle on HBO's Real Sports. Lucas told HBO how, at his lowest point, he contemplated ending his life. Said Lucas: "I was thinking go on the GW (Bridge) make a right in the middle. You know what I'm saying? Just screw it. I didn't want to kill myself in the house because the girls (he has a wife and three daughter) would be there." Lucas, who was employed as a TV analyst after his career ended, said he would take 15-16 pills at a time to help deal with throbbing neck pain. "You know, 450 pills a month is not a game that was my life," Lucas told HBO. "That was my life every friggin' day. And the only time I got out of bed was to go do my TV show, the only time. So family life, was none. Father, wasn't there. Husband, not there." His issues began in 2009, after his five years of medical insurance covered by the NFL ran out then depression set in because he needed surgery, had unyielding neck pain and could not afford the surgery.
