Former Redskins coach Joe Gibbs spoke to the Cowboys on Saturday night, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said.

He told a story about how he messed up the time outs at the end of a game and was flagged, costing his team a win.

It was fitting considering the controversy following the game management failures by coach Jason Garrett in the final moments of last Sunday's loss to the Ravens.

"Players told me when they hear about Joe Gibbs making bad decisions on the sidelines they know anybody can," Jones said.

Jones said it was not unusual for him to ask Gibbs to speak to his team because he used Gibbs as a sounding board for years.

According to Jones, he called Gibbs after firing Barry Switzer in 1997 for advice on hiring head coaches because he had run out of former teammates (Jimmy Johnson) and it was Gibbs who told Jones that he should hire coaches who are also coordinators, preferably offensive coordinators.

Sounds familiar. Would that be back to back timeouts trying to ice the opponents kicker before a FG, called for unsportsmanlike conduct?. Can't remember the opponents ottomh.
