A Steelers training cap casualty, Jerrod Johnson worked out with his alma mater during Texas A&M's Pro Day Friday. National Football Post and TheSidelineView.com writer Lance Zierlein was in attendance and reported that Johnson "was throwing to wideouts and running backs during the pro day and the zip on his passes was noticeable. Johnson suffered a shoulder injury while in college that took awhile for him to recover from, but Johnson's arm strength and accuracy looked pretty solid to my eyes." The Steelers released Johnson on cut-down day in 2012, electing to proceed with Byron Leftwich and Charlie Batch to back-up starter Ben Roethlisberger. Johnson signed with the United Football League's Sacramento Mountain Lions in 2012, appearing in one game. Larry Zierlein, former Steelers offensive line coach and Lance's father, was the offensive line coach of the Mountain Lions. Source: SBNation.com
I liked what I was seeing out of JJ in pre-season last year. Hopefully he catches on somewhere as a #2 .
