The Saints' win in the NFC championship game on Sunday will remove them from the dubious list of teams that have never appeared in the Super Bowl, they will make its first appearance in the NFL title game on Feb. 7 against the Colts. There will still be four teams never to have appeared in a Super Bowl after this season. The Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars are relatively young franchises, and the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns are old-time NFL stalwarts whose presence in the league predates the Super Bowl. I can see the Texans in the Super Bowl eventually if they ever get over the hump. They have quite a bit of talent on both sides of the ball. The Texans always seem to be a sleeper pick to reach the postseason, but its amazing with the talent they possess, they never reached the playoffs yet in their history.
Closest the Lions got was the NFC Championship game against us, needless to say they had to play our '91 team, it didn't go so well for them.
Technically, Cleveland is a new team too, because the old Browns moved to Baltimore and they didn't come back until '99.
kind of like the cards....they were the hot pick to get over the hump for years before they did. texans are in a rough division though while the cards division is terrible
