With Michael Johnson battling a groin injury and fellow safety C.C. Brown struggling, there is a chance that Aaron Ross will make his first start of the year against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend. There’s a catch: Ross would have play out of position, moving from cornerback to safety. Ross, who missed the first nine games of the season with a torn left hamstring, has been working out at both positions in recent weeks, and the Giants’ need this week is definitely at safety. In case any of our starting S when down, Ross and Thomas has the versatility to switch positions without much drop-off. We brought in C.C. Brown strictly for his run stopping, thats why we only carried three safeties on the roster. There was originally no intention for us to start Brown in such a scenario because of his deficiencies in coverage, but we got screwed when both Phillips and Ross were injured and were forced to start him. Rouse was a beast for us against Dallas last week with 12 sacks and a sack but Ross will be able to defend the deep ball better which we must do against the eagles fast and explosive offense on Sunday Night to get back into the NFC East divisional title hunt. If Johnson can't go, I would be fine with Rouse at SS and Ross at FS. But we need to get as healthy as we can get down the stretch if were going to remain in the hunt.
I read Ross switched to safety briefly in college but it didn't go well and he got switched back to corner quickly. Hope that happens again : D
they can't play much worse in the secondary so we probably won't be able to tell a difference........
